Successful applicants must have a high school education or equivalent, graduate of a utility or union affiliated journeyman lineperson apprentice program, and have experience as a Foreman and/or Leadman I or II or a supervisory position in the Operations Department of an electric utility. Possess or ability to acquire basic computer skills (word processing/spreadsheet). Majority of experience must be in distribution overhead and underground construction operations and maintenance, and outage restoration with a minimum of five years experience as a Journeyman Lineperson. Residency within a 20 miles radius of the cooperative’s headquarter’s facility is required. Must possess or ability to obtain an Oregon Commercial Driver’s License Class A (subject to substance abuse testing). Good organizational, supervisory and communication skills are essential. Qualifications must include good attitude, skill, knowledge, ability, problem-solving and inter-personal relationship behavior.

Midstate Electric Cooperative Inc., with headquarters in La Pine, Oregon (30) miles south of Bend, Oregon) is a rural electric cooperative serving portions of four counties covering 5600 square miles with over 18,000 meters. The utility seeks qualified applicants for the following position:
Accounting Manager
This position has responsibility for all financial activities of the cooperative, directs billing and customer service and oversees employee benefits. Financial duties include preparing financial analyses, preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, cost of service studies and rate designs and managing the overall operation of the Financial Accounting Department which includes accounts payable, payroll, general ledger and plant accounting. Will manage and be responsible for establishing billing and customer service policies. Will manage and be responsible for employee benefit programs and company insurance plans.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar discipline and five (5) years’ experience in a management position in the electric utility industry. Certified Public Accountant and experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in benefits are desirable. Must be proficient in Microsoft products, interactive websites, and knowledge of utility accounting / billing systems.
Must demonstrate strong initiative, a commitment to customer service and the ability to meet deadlines. Good communications and people skills, involved in the community, proactive, creative, well-organized, neat, self-starter, highly motivated and able to work under high demand situations. Qualifications must include good attitude, skill, knowledge, ability and problem-solving behavior. This is a Management position reporting to the General Manager. Salary/Exempt.
