Dear Member:
Happy New Year! 2010 is shaping up to be another busy year at your cooperative. Midstate Electric’s 2010 Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 15th at the La Pine Middle School. Three director positions on the Board will be up for election at that meeting:
District 3 – currently held by Gordon De ArmondAs provided in the cooperatives bylaws, the members residing in a district may nominate a candidate for a Director to represent that district by filing a petition with the Secretary at least sixty (60) days before the day of the annual meeting signed by at least fifteen (15) members of the cooperative residing in the district for which a Director is to be elected. For geographic descriptions of the districts, see page 8. A description of directors’ duties and responsibilities and a petition form may be obtained at the Cooperative’s headquarters facility.
District 4 – currently held by Ron Sommerfeldt
District 6 – currently held by Bud Kendall
In 2010, Midstate Electric will continue to demonstrate our commitment to the communities we serve. Donations of time and money will help to improve local environments, provide food and other needs for the underprivileged and enhance educational and recreational opportunities. In March, applications will be available for our Scholarship and Youth Seminar Programs. Eight $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to our members and their dependents to meet their educational goals, and four high school students will be awarded a trip to the Youth Seminar in Boise, ID.
The Conservation Rebate Program will continue in 2010. Most companies don’t encourage their customers to use less of the product they sell; that’s where we are different. We not only encourage you to use less of our product, we pay you incentives to do it! That may not make sense to some people, but it does to us because our customers are actually our “member-owners”. As a cooperative, we provide programs and services that add value to our membership. Members participating in our Conservation Rebate Program have reduced electric bills and more money in their pockets. In the last 3 years, we have paid over $750,000 in conservation incentives to members improving energy efficiency by weather-stripping and caulking; upgrading ceiling, floor and wall insulation; and installing high efficiency windows, heat pumps, water heaters and ENERGY STAR® qualified products.
