Conservation Rebates & Tips

Conservation is more important than ever nowadays. MEC offers rebates and tips to our members for installing energy-saving measures and adjusting their lifestyles to make their homes more efficient.

Appliances - ENERGY STAR® is the symbol for energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances use less energy than conventional products. Midstate Electric proudly promotes ENERGY STAR and offers rebates for qualifying appliances.

 

CFL Lighting - Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs that have earned the ENERGY STAR approval label combine high performance, with the highest levels of energy efficiency. When comparing an ENERGY STAR CFL bulb to a conventional incandescent light bulb, they save up to 75% energy and last up to 10 times as long.

Water Heater - Water heating is one of the largest energy expenses in your home. It can account for one-quarter to one-third of your monthly electricity bill. Rebates are given to members who purchase a qualifying energy efficient electric water heater.

Heat Pumps - Rebates are available to members who add a qualifying heat pump with PTCS ducts to their current heating system, replace their old heat pump with a new qualifying one, or install one with new construction. Today’s electric heat pumps offer clean, safe, reliable comfort all year long, and are by far the most efficient heating and cooling systems available.

Duct Sealing - An OSU Extension Energy Services study has concluded that duct sealing can cut the cost of heating and cooling by an average of 30%. Midstate Electric offers rebates for Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) duct sealing.

Windows - Rebates are available for Midstate Electric members who install qualifying energy efficient windows. They must have permanently installed electric heat and their home must be fully insulated.

Weatherization - Weatherization program rebates are available for homeowners in retrofitting their homes to make them more energy efficient. Residential members with permanently installed electric heat qualify for the program.

ENERGY STAR Homes – A rebate program for residential new construction offered to Midstate Electric members and their builders who build new stick-built homes to ENERGY STAR Home technical specifications

Manufactured Homes - ENERGY STAR rebates are available for new electrically heated manufactured homes built to NEEM/ENERGY STAR specifications.
