Conservation has never been more critical. By making simple adjustments, members can significantly reduce their energy bills and enjoy long-term savings. To be eligible for an incentive, projects must be submitted to Midstate within 180 days of project completion. Please allow time for project processing which is approximately 2-4 weeks. Projects received outside of the 180 days are ineligible for an incentive.

Appliances
ENERGY STAR® is the symbol for energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances use less energy than conventional products. MEC proudly promotes ENERGY STAR and offers incentives for qualifying appliances.

Clothes Washer
An ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washer cleans clothes using approximately 20% less energy and 35% less water than a standard washer. The Modified Energy Factor (MEF) measures the energy used during the washing process, including machine energy, water heating, and moisture removal. The higher the MEF, the more efficient the clothes washer is. To qualify for incentives, the MEF must be 2.0 or higher.
To receive an incentive, members must submit the incentive application along with the proof of purchase, make, and model number of the clothes washer. To qualify for the incentive, the clothes washer must be electric.
Clothes Dryer
An ENERGY STAR certified dryer uses 20% less energy than conventional models without sacrificing features or performance. They do this using innovative energy-saving technologies, such as moisture sensors that detect when clothes are dry and automatically shut the dryer off. Many ENERGY STAR dryers also include convenient features, such as steam cycles that can help save time on ironing clothes by preventing wrinkles.
To receive an incentive, members must submit the incentive application along with proof of purchase, make and model number of the clothes dryer. To qualify for the incentive, the clothes dryer must be electric.

Incentives may be available to members who install a qualifying heat pump. Today’s electric heat pumps offer clean, safe, reliable comfort all year long, and are by far the most efficient heating and cooling systems available.
A properly installed and sized high-efficiency air source heat pump in our climate will heat about 75% of the time in the winter months. When the outside air temperature drops below about 25 degrees F, the supplemental heat will engage to assist in maintaining the temperature in the home for about 25% of the time. During extremely cold temperatures, the supplemental heat will be the primary source of heat. The annual energy savings from an air source heat pump are mostly achieved because it only uses about 25% of the power to heat your home when compared to an electric furnace. Overall savings are about 30 to 50% over a conventional electric forced air furnace.
A ground source heat pump is the most efficient way to heat your home. Typically a ground loop is buried in the ground, or groundwater is used to heat your home and preheat your hot water. Because the ground or water temperatures stay at a constant temperature, the ground source heat pump can take heat from the ground to maintain the temperature in your home with little or no supplemental heat! Overall savings can reach over 70%
Incentive Amounts
- $1,560 incentive for a variable speed air source heat pump converted from an electric forced air system.
- $1,250 incentive for a non-variable speed heat pump converted from an electric forced air system. Heat pump must have a HSPF2 rating of 7.60 or greater.
- $600 incentive for a variable speed air source heat pump upgrade – this includes replacing an existing heat pump, adding a heat pump to a non-electric heating system (i.e., gas/oil/propane/wood), replacing the heat pump portion of a ground source heat pump system, upgrading from zonal (baseboard/wall/ceiling heat), and installing a heat pump in new construction.
Ductless Heat Pump Incentive
If you have zonal heat (such as electric baseboards or wall heaters) or an electric furnace, we want to help you pay for an upgrade!
Electric baseboard and wall heaters can be an inefficient and uncomfortable heat source for homes. Upgrade to a more energy-efficient alternative, a Ductless Heating and Cooling System. Eligible homeowners will receive an incentive when they install a system.
When replacing an electric heating system with a ductless heat pump that meets Federal minimum efficiency standards, the incentive is $920.

Heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) use electricity to move heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly. Therefore, they can be 2 to 3 times more energy efficient than conventional electric resistance water heaters. To move the heat, heat pumps work like a refrigerator in reverse. There are incentives available for qualifying Heat Pump Water Heaters.

Incentives are available for MEC members who install qualifying energy efficient windows and doors. To qualify, electric heat must be the primary heating source for the home. A pre-inspection is required to verify eligibility.
By upgrading your windows or exterior doors, you may qualify for an incentive. An inspection is required prior to work being started. Contact us to discuss eligibility and to schedule an appointment.
Incentive Amounts
- Windows: The incentives range from $8 to $10 for single-family & $15 to $20 for multifamily square foot of windows replaced.
- Doors: $40 per exterior door

Incentives are available for homeowners retrofitting their homes. Residential members with electric heat as their primary heating system qualify for the program.
Our residential insulation program is available to homeowners retrofitting their home. All Midstate Electric single and multi-family residential customers with permanently installed electric heat qualify for the program. Incentives may be available for contractor-installed improvements such as ceiling, floor, and wall insulation. Homeowner “do-it-yourself” projects do not qualify.

The New Northwest Energy Efficient Manufactured (NEEM) Home Incentive is for new electrically heated stick-built homes and manufactured homes built to NEEM specifications. New NEEM manufactured homes can receive the following incentive amounts:
- NEEM 1.1 – $1,200 incentive
- NEEM 2.0 – $1,400 incentive
