The Power of Human Connections™
Welcome to Midstate Electric Cooperative. Headquartered in La Pine, Oregon, Midstate Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative owned by its member/consumers. Serving over 18,000 consumers in four Central Oregon counties, the cooperative has provided power to residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers for over 60 years.
Decisions are made locally at Midstate Electric by the directors who are also member/consumers. The directors spend a considerable amount of time keeping pace with the changes in the industry. The management at the cooperative is not only keeping pace with the changes, but is also implementing cost saving techniques while the employees provide the member/consumers with high quality service at the lowest possible cost.
Member Rate Increase Effective 11/1/2013
In late July our power supplier, Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), announced an average wholesale power rate increase and an 11% average transmission rate increase effective October 1, 2013. As a result, MEC’s power costs will increase by $1.2 million for BPA’s fiscal years 2014 through 2015. With this increase in power costs, it is necessary to increase member rates.
Alert! Be Aware
Dear Midstate Members:
The U.S. has seen an increase in phone scams targeting utility customers. In the last several days, Midstate has had several reports from members of possible phone scams. The phone calls, thus far, are being made after hours and the caller is requesting money for cutting trees or asking about power quality. We do not know the source of the calls, but be aware that these types of calls are not being placed by Midstate. Please do not give out and information and hang up. If possible, use caller ID and report the incident to the Sheriff's office immediately. If you have questions, please contact our office.
